Lumin Digital, the Compounding Growth Platform for banks and credit unions, today announced the appointment of Mike Valentine, outgoing chief executive officer of BCU, to its board of directors, effective October 1, 2026. Valentine joins as an independent director designated as an industry executive and expert, bringing more than 40 years of experience leading and serving credit unions, along with the perspective of a longtime Lumin client.
Valentine has led BCU since 1994, transforming it into a nationally recognized financial well-being partner serving hundreds of thousands of users and many of the country’s leading employers and professional associations. During his tenure, BCU expanded its national footprint while investing in digital capabilities that strengthen the member experience. Valentine will be retiring from BCU in 2027.
“I’ve known Mike for a long time, and he’s been both a trusted client and someone I’ve learned a great deal from over the years,” said Jeff Chambers, founder and CEO of Lumin Digital. “He understands this industry from every angle because he’s spent decades leading one of its most successful institutions. His perspective will be invaluable as we continue building for the financial institutions we serve, and we’re pleased to welcome him to Lumin’s board.”
“Over the years, I’ve had a front-row seat to Lumin’s growth, both as a client and as an admirer of what the team has built,” said Valentine. “Their success isn’t just about great technology. It’s about listening to clients, solving real problems, and staying focused on what matters most. I’m honored to join the board and grateful for the opportunity to contribute alongside such a talented group of people.”
Valentine’s appointment adds another experienced financial institution executive to Lumin’s board as the company continues to expand its platform beyond digital banking and broaden the role it plays for banks and credit unions.
