Reston Healing Center is offering free 15-minute consultations with Dr. Jason Brown, D.C., as Reston residents decide how to spend their flexible spending account balances before the end of the year. The consultations give people with back, neck, joint or sports-related pain a chance to find out whether chiropractic care can help them, and what it would cost, before they book a visit.
Many employer FSAs follow a “use it or lose it” rule. Depending on the plan, unused funds may be forfeited, carried over up to the allowed limit, or used during a grace period. For most plans, the plan year ends December 31. The IRS lists chiropractic care as an eligible medical expense in Publication 502. Residents should check the rules with their plan administrator.
“A lot of people have money sitting in an FSA and a sore back or knee they’ve been putting off, but they’re not sure a chiropractor is the right call,” said Dr. Brown, owner of Reston Healing Center. “The consult is a chance to sit down, tell me what’s going on, and get a straight answer.”
During the consultation, Dr. Brown hears what’s going on and explains whether and how he can help. Patients who want to move forward are given the price of a first visit, which includes an exam, digital X-rays and an adjustment, as either a cash price or the insurance price for plans the office works with. The office accepts FSA and HSA payments. If chiropractic isn’t the right fit, Dr. Brown refers the patient to someone who can help.
Visits at Reston Healing Center are customized to each patient. Dr. Brown does the spinal work, followed by hands-on muscle work, exercises and stretching with the practice’s therapists. As a sports chiropractor, he treats shoulder, knee, foot and ankle problems along with back and neck pain, and the practice also fits custom foot orthotics.
